Protecting Taree’s natural environment is the focus of a new community recycling initiative.
A facility designed to dispose of problem waste, like paint cans and car batteries free of charge, was officially opened today.
“regional communities are so aware of their environment that this initiative by the state government to help create this centre is so absolutely important to fulfill the wishes of people who live in regional New South Wales,”Great Taree City Council’s David West said.
More than $70,000 was provided by the State Government to fund the project, which was jointly coordinated by Council and the Environmental Protection Authority.
