COFFS HARBOUR BEACH CLOSED AFTER SHARK SIGHTING

Another shark has been spotted at Jetty Beach in Coffs Harbour, the latest in a spate of recent sightings.

People say they saw a large shark swimming at the end of the Jetty and raised the alarm, resulting in the evacuation of hundreds of people from the water.

It’s not yet known what type of shark it was, with Marine Police unable to spot the creature.

“Just be careful, keep an eye out and it should be alright, we won’t open the beach unless we’re 100 per cent sure there’s no shark there.”

Police were also called in to usher swimmers out of the water.

“I’ve cooled down now, I’ve still got all my fingers and toes so it should be alright.”

The beach is expected to reopen at 9am tomorrow.
