Tamworth Mayor Col Murray is seeking council approval to fund a $20,000 trip to China later this year.
The nine day trip will aim to build ties between the nations, including economic links between agricultural districts.
International freight will also be a focal point as council forges ahead with plans for Tamworth airport to facilitate international freight movements.
If approved, it would be Councillor Murray’s fifth official trip to China.
