MACDONALD MAKES IMPACT ON WORLD STAGE
The Rio Olympics may come around a bit too soon for young Hunter cyclist Nicola MacDonald, but the 2020 games in Tokyo are definitely a possibility.
MacDonald recently returned home from the junior world championships in Kazakhstan with a pair of medals.
The 17-year-old won bronze in the scratch race and silver in the team pursuit.
“We were really excited a bit disappointed that we didn’t win, the New Zealander’s were just amazing. We were really happy with how we rode and really exceeded our expectations I think.”
Despite also forging a reputation as a road racer, MacDonald will focus most of her attention on the track.
“I think I want to lean toward more the track side because I really love the team pursuit environment. The road is a bit more individual.”
