FORMER BHP STEELWORKS LAND TO GET REMEDIATION WORK
Remediation work is about to begin on another 10 hectares of land at Mayfield, contaminated by the former BHP Steelworks.
Construction firm Daracon has won the tender for the $7-million project, which will require more than 100,000 tonnes of fill and capping material.
Demolition and drainage works will also be carried out at the Intermodal Area, to make the site safe for future use.
The work is expected to be finished by mid-2016.
