BIOSECURITY BILL PASSES THROUGH NSW GOVERNMENT
A Biosecurity Bill has passed through state parliament this week, aiming to secure the future of the $12 billion primary industries sector.
The legislation hopes to improve prevention, management and eradication of pests, weeds and diseases.
It includes a number of measures such as the introduction of emergency powers allowing the state to take action against threats to the economy and environment, as well as a high-risk category for pests and diseases.
An Advisory Committee will be established to implement the Bill.
