SHARK ATTACK VICTIM HAS SERIOUS INJURIES

Ambulance officers say a man attacked by a shark at Hallidays Point near Foster this morning has serious leg injuries.

The 65-year-old local man, was out on his paddle ski at Black Head Beach, north of Forster around 11.30 am when it’s believed the shark launched itself out of the water, biting the man on the leg. A spokesman from the Westpac Rescue Helicopter says he was a deep wound to his left leg.

A witness says two off duty police officers who were on the beach waded in and rescued him.

He was driven up the beach in a four wheel drive where he was treated by ambulance officers.

The victim who trains daily in the surf is being flown to the John Hunter Hospital.
