A public meeting will be held in Tamworth on Thursday to discuss stresses on the staffing situation at the new hospital’s emergency department.
It follows Hunter New England Health’s refusal to trial an extra nurse on night shift, which is what the Industrial Relations Commission recently recommended.
Hospital management believes current staffing levels meet patient demand.
The state’s Nurses and Midwives’ Association will host the meeting at the Tamworth Services Club at 6:30.
