The Sawtell community on the New South Wales mid north coast is reeling after a local man died while surfing in Indonesia.
Friends of Ron Schneider united this afternoon, to pay tribute to the 54-year-old father of three.
The house painter suffered head injuries when a wave slammed him onto a reef in Western Sumatra.
“One of those guys who was everyone’s mate, he was a bit of a gentle giant, he was just an absolute gentleman.” said friend Garry Paff.
His body has been taken to Padang, and will soon be transported back to Australia.
