Murder conviction overturned

A Hunter man who killed his girlfriend, claiming she was the “devil” has had his murder conviction overturned.
The Court of Criminal Appeal today found Jordan Miller was not criminally responsible for strangling Emerald Wardle at Metford in June 2020.
Miller was found guilty by a jury in 2022, which found his psychosis at the time was caused by drug use – not an underlying mental health issue.
However fresh evidence from two psychiatrists found Miller was still displaying symptoms in jail without any drug use – four years on.
He was subsequently diagnosed with schizophrenia – which he was found to be suffering from when he killed Ms Wardle.
