A father of two, Dale Carr has issued a statement for the first time since being attacked by a shark whilst body boarding at Port Macquarie on Saturday.
The 36-year-old thanked everyone who assisted him after what’s believed to have been a 2.7 metre great white shark attack.
“I firstly would like to thank those who were on the beach at the time of this incident and were instrumental in retrieving me from the shoreline, contacting emergency services and treating me on the beach.
“I have no doubt their efforts saved my life.
“I also would like to sincerely thank the doctors, nurses and paramedics who treated me.
“As I recover in hospital, I would request privacy for my family and friends and I will make a further statement in due course.”
