THE BID TO HELP A TURTLE FOUND A LONG WAY FROM HOME
Finally tonight, an endangered turtle has been found floating off the Central Coast, 3,000 kilometres from its Queensland home.
In a scenario straight out of Finding Nemo, doctors believe the hawksbill turtle was riding the East Coast Current, when it became sick and too weak to leave.
“What exactly is wrong with him? I don’t know. He’s got some wounds here, he’s been in very cold water and he’s lethargic. All we can do is warm him up, get him to the aquarium and hope for the best. Maybe one day he can be released.”
The turtle – who’s been named “Fluke” because of how lucky it is to be alive – is being taken to Sydney for further examination.
