The Great Lakes’ newest Australian citizens were officially welcomed this morning.
The ceremony was part of Local Government Week celebrations, and for many, it was a day they’d been dreaming of for years.
“Who wouldn’t want to be an Australian citizen it’s an amazing country, it’s an amazing government and a great place to live.”
“It just gives you that security that you know you can establish your roots here and and move on with your life with a bit of security.”
This year’s Local Government Week theme, ‘Active All Areas’, highlights the need for councils to work with community members of all ages and cultures.
