A 15-year-old boy has been charged, and four other teenagers arrested, after a car chase at Lake Macquarie this morning.
At around 1am, police were attending a restaurant at Jewells following reports of a break-in, when they saw a green Holden Commodore speeding away.
Officers pursued the car along the Newcastle Inner City Bypass, before the chase ended with the Commodore crashing at New Lambton Heights.
The 15-year-old driver and his 14-year-old passenger allegedly ran from the scene.
They were arrested a short time later, along with another three boys, aged 14, 15 and 17.
The underage driver is facing a string of charges, while the other teenagers are assisting police with their inquiries.
