The Hunter’s Westpac Rescue Helicopter service notches up four decades of operations later this year, and it’s looking for the first person it saved, to help mark the occasion.
In December 1975, soon after its public welcome ceremony at Merewether, the chopper was called to a boy trapped on a nearby cliff.
Also celebrating 40 years in the air, Newcastle’s Hang Gliding and Paragliding clubs, who today handed over the proceeds of a recent fundraiser.
