COUNCIL CONDUCTING FURTHER TESTS ON BLACK SLAG
Following advice from the Environment Protection Authority, Lake Macquarie Council is conducting further tests on black slag, unearthed at Marmong Point during the April storm.
The council maintains the material doesn’t pose a serious health concern, unless ingested.
“As far as risk to health, all of the evidence we’re receiving, as far as we know at the moment, there is no increased risk to health,” said Lake Macquarie Mayor, Jodie Harrison.
Test results are expected in the next week, and they’ll determine what the council does next.
