Meanwhile, Tamworth MP Kevin Anderson has scheduled an emergency meeting with Water Minister Niall Blair, to discuss the high prices paid by Peel Valley water users.
It comes after an Australian Competition and Consumer Commission review, which will see those in the Peel Valley pay more than $50 per megalitre, while those in the nearby Namoi Valley will pay 20.
“I’ll be putting some options to the water minister and thrashing around some ideas, we haven’t landed on a position yet, but we’ve got to keep talking, we’ve got to get everyone at the table to make sure we find a way forward.”
Mr Anderson says the charging system needs to change.
