SERIES OF COLLISIONS HALTS CENTRAL COAST HIGHWAY

Two men have been flown to hospital following an unusual series of crashes at East Gosford.

Police say a ute driven by a p-plater crashed into five different vehicles as it travelled west along the Central Coast Highway.

While most occupants of the cars suffered only minor injuries, the driver of an eastbound Subaru Forester was trapped in his vehicle and is now in a serious condition.

The 23-year-old driver of the ute also became trapped in the wreckage of a separate collision and was taken to hospital with head and internal injuries.

Police are investigating the events leading up to the incident.
