ORICA FINED FOR BOTCHED GROUTING
Orica has been fined $120,000 for spilling grout over 280 metres of a dry creek bed in the Sugarloaf State Conservation Area.
The company pleaded guilty to two charges of damaging the area and polluting waters – both of which occurred while carrying out mine subsidence remediation for Glencore Xstrata in 2013.
An Orica spokesperson today told NBN News the company has instigated new initiatives since the incident and will no longer offer surface crack grouting services in Australia.
