ADELAIDE CATHOLIC ARCHBISHOP’S CASE MENTIONED IN NEWCASTLE COURT

Adelaide Catholic Archbishop Phillip Wilson, who’s pleaded NOT guilty to concealing child sex abuse, was excused from appearing in Newcastle Local Court today.

Instead, he was represented by his lawyer, Simon Buchen.

The court heard the brief of evidence is more than 2,000 pages long, and that as many as 40 witnesses could be called.

The archbishop is accused of failing to report the sexual assault of a 10-year-old boy by pedophile priest James Fletcher in the 1970s.
