WINTER WHALES PUT A POSITIVE SPIN ON A DISAPPOINTING YEAR

The Byron Bay Winter Whales have turned a disappointing year around, recording one of its biggest fundraising efforts to date.

Despite a computer glitch and bad weather cancelling this year’s ocean race event, $51,000 was still raised for various local charities, which was handed over today.

The sum takes the group’s fundraising grand total over the past 28-years to $720,000.

Organisers hope to crack the million dollar mark in the next four years.
