The recent wild weather and tumbling temperatures have seen a doubling in demand for welfare services, according to the Samaritans.
The welfare group has opened a new assistance centre at Adamstown, to help with the basic needs of 1,000 families a month.
Non-perishable food can also be dropped off for the Samaritans’ winter appeal, with cash donations welcome via phone or website.
