It’s been a horror day on Hunter roads, with three people killed in two separate crashes.
One person died when a car left Wollombi Road at Broke near Cessnock and rolled.
And at around 2pm, a four-wheel-drive collided with a car on John Renshaw Drive near Maitland.
The four-wheel-drive left the road and burst into flames, killing two people.
A man in his 60s suffering multiple injuries was dragged from the burning vehicle.
Two 16-year-old boys and a 31-year-old man in the other car suffered leg and back injuries, and were taken to John Hunter Hospital.
Bad weather is hindering emergency workers, and traffic diversions are in place.
