There’s been a blue-green algae outbreak at Split Rock Dam.
The Department of Water and Energy has issued a red alert, warning residents to stay out of the water.
Authorities say the algae is toxic and if consumed by humans, can cause gastroentiritis as well as skin and eye irritations.
Swimming in Keepit, Copeton and Pindari Dams in also prohibited following algae outbreaks.
