KANGAROOS DOWN DEFENDING CHAMPIONS

In round one of the Tamworth AFL, Gunnedah put the bite on the Swans, while Inverell kicked 35 goals on the way to a 212-point victory over competition newcomers Moree.
While the New England Nomads’ premiership defence got off to a disastrous start at home, as the Kangaroos opened up a 34-point half time lead.
Nomads captain-coach Zac Economou did his best to get on the front foot..
But the visitors midfield put New England under too much pressure, kicking three goals in under five minutes.
The blue-and-whites went on to announce themselves as title contenders with a 55-point win.
