Two people have been refused bail, over the alleged stabbing and kidnapping of a man in Mayfield West.
Police say the 35-year-old was visiting a Miller Street home yesterday afternoon, when he was stabbed, tied up and hit over the head with a replica gun.
The man escaped, fleeing to a nearby petrol station.
A 27-year-old man and a 30-year-old woman were later charged.
Both are due to face Newcastle Local Court tomorrow.
