A 25-year-old man is dead, after being hit by a car on the coast road at Broken Head, south of Byron Bay, in the early hours of this morning.
“About 3:30am it appears from current investigations that a male person was walking along the roadway and he has been struck by a motor vehicle,” said Sergeant Jason Dowd from Tweed-Byron Police.
The man died at the scene.
The P-plate driver of the car was taken to Byron Bay Hospital and treated for shock.
The road was closed while police investigated, but they’ve since labelled the incident, a freak accident.
