SANTOS FACES ANOTHER HURDLE
Santos’ controversial Narrabri Gas Project has come under fire from the state government, following the submission of a review of environmental factors for its water treatment facility.
The company has been asked for more information, particularly about irrigation water quality, soil testing and brine management.
Santos’ New South Wales General Manager Peter Mitchley says some of the questions asked are irrelevant.
“So they’re asking questions like how much salt storage space do we have, the salt storage was approved last year as a separate REF and $38 million worth of ponds are being built for that purpose.”
Santos has until June 5 to submit the information, or the project will be refused.
