Inverell based Senator John Williams has moved a Notice of Motion in federal parliament, which criticised PETA for its attack on the wool industry.
Last month the animal welfare group released a video where guitarist and vegan campaigner Jona Weinhofen is depicted holding a bloodied lamb.
“This was a disgraceful slur on the shearers and the wool industry as a whole…”
It was requested that the Senate note PETA was misleading the Australian community to the detriment of the wool industry.
“Being a shearer for some 27 years part time, I know the care the shearers take looking after the sheep and the graziers as well.”)
The motion was passed with Labor’s support.
