ADELAIDE’S ARCHBISHOP PLEADS NOT GUILTY
Adelaide’s Catholic Archbishop has pleaded not guilty to concealing child sex abuse, during his time as a priest in the Hunter.
Philip Wilson is accused of failing to report the sexual assault of a 10-year-old boy by pedophile priest James Fletcher in the 1970s.
The archbishop was excused from facing court in Newcastle today, with his lawyer entering the plea on his behalf.
“He’s pleaded not guilty, but I’m not going to say anything further.”
He’s believed to be the most senior Catholic in the world to be prosecuted over such a crime.
