OPERATION PARIAC TARGETS LICENSED PREMISES

Two people have been arrested, including a young woman who allegedly bit an officer’s hand, following a police operation targeting licensed premises in the New England region.

Over the weekend, officers conducted 30 inspections at Armidale, Uralla, Guyra, Glen Innes, Inverell and Deepwater.

Operation Pariac focuses on high visibility policing of public spaces, transport interchanges and other locations for alcohol-related crime.

A 47-year-old man was arrested following an incident outside a licensed premises in Marsh Street at Armidale.

He was issued a $500 criminal infringement notice for offensive behaviour.

Meanwhile an 18-year-old woman will front court next month, after a security guard was assaulted at Inverell.

It’s alleged during her arrest she bit an officer on the hand.

Police are also investigating 13 licensing breaches.

Operation Pariac will continue over the summer.
