A man is in custody, accused of stealing a police vehicle and crashing into a house in the Hunter, following a domestic incident.
Officers say a man, who’d been arrested in the Maitland suburb of Ashtonfield and placed in the back of the car, allegedly moved into the front seat, and drove off.
A short time later, the police car slammed into a carport at a home in the same street, damaging two other vehicles.
Police say charges are expected to be laid.
