PEABODY WORKING TOWARDS ALL FEMALE UNDERGROUND CREW

The Hunter appears to be breaking new ground in terms of employee diversity in the mining sector.

40 per cent of the successful applicants in Peabody’s recent recruitment campaign were female, as the company works towards recruiting Australia’s first all-female underground crew.

Its efforts were recently recognised at the Women in Mining state awards.

As was Sarah Withell from Muswellbrook’s Mount Arthur Coal coal mine, who was named ‘The Exceptional Woman in Mining’.
