ARCHIBALD PRIZE PAINTINGS IN COFFS HARBOUR
Australia’s best portraits are about to go on show at the Coffs Harbour Regional Gallery.
This year’s Archibald Prize finalist artworks are being unpacked and installed ready for the official opening of the exhibition this weekend.
There are plenty of familiar faces, including actress Cate Blanchett, as well as the winner of this year’s prize, a portrait of Penelope Seidler by Fiona Lowrie.
Curator Dr Leigh Summers explains: “We’ve got fifty two works and that isn’t the entire show. Three works were simply too large to get through the gallery doors. Too large to travel I guess.”
The official opening of the exhibition is on Saturday night and will be open to the public until the end of May.
