A 54-year-old woman attached herself to train tracks near Sandgate this morning, in protest over the expansion of the coal industry, and its effect on the environment.
Annette Schneider, a farmer from Monaro in the state’s south, was arrested and charged by police after a three-hour operation to cut her free.
The protest halted a coal train which was on its way to the Port of Newcastle.
