Newcastle Liberal Candidate Karen Howard has issued a statement, after being defeated by Labor MP Tim Crakanthorp in the state election.
Ms Howard said she phoned Mr Crakanthorp today and congratulated him on retaining the seat of Newcastle.
“We ran an honest campaign and have our integrity intact, despite the insurmountable mountain of negativity and scaremongering thrown at us, we have managed to keep the margin at just 2000 votes at current counting.”
Ms Howard also congratulated Premier Mike Baird on his victory, and urged the people of Newcastle to hold Mr Crakanthorp to his promises.
“I trust that the voters in Newcastle will now hold the Member to account for his many promises made during the campaign and urge him to put aside party politics, and act in the best interests of the people of Newcastle for the next four years.”
