Fort Scratchley had all guns blazing today, as commemorations continue for the 75th anniversary of the shelling of Newcastle by a Japanese submarine.
The fort’s working guns were fired during a special open day.
Thousands of visitors made the most of the good weather, taking the opportunity to see the sights and learn more about the fort’s history, with tunnel tours a highlight.
