HUNDREDS OF WOODEN POPPIES SET TO FEATURE AT GUNNEDAH’S ANZAC CENTENARY CELEBRATIONS

The red poppy flower is a significant reminder of the thousands of ANZACS who made the ultimate sacrifice.
And this year’s centenary celebrations will see 500 wooden poppies erected in the form of a cross in Gunnedah’s Wolseley Park.
Red stickers will soon be placed on the flowers, and once completed will adorn the names of 165 local soldiers who lost their lives at war.
“The Gunnedah Show Woodturners they’ve made a tremendous effort, they’ve put in over 90 hours and they’ve actually crafted the poppies and they’ve actually put the stems in as well.”
The art project will be in the park for four days and the community is being urged to respect the site.
“We have confidence the Gunnedah community has a high level of respect for the ANZAC memory and that they’ll keep an eye on the project for us.”)(8 secs, …The project for us.
