The dangers of handling asbestos is being taught to a new generation of Australians – known as the DIYers.
Betty the Asbestos Bus is travelling the east coast, highlighting where asbestos is hidden within homes built before 1980 – so young Australian’s don’t mishandle the substance.
“We’re calling this the 3rd wave, the initial wave was the miners of asbestos, the second wave was the manufacturers and we’re targeting the 3rd wave which is the home renovator.”
Inhaling just one fine fibre, can lead to the formation of an asbestos related illness.
