CREWS ATTEMPT TO EXTINGUISH WYEE BUSHFIRE

Nearly 80 firefighters are working to contain a large bushfire at Wyee in southern Lake Macquarie.
A water bombing helicopter has been called in to help assist fire crews.
The rail line between Sydney and Newcastle has been cut and the fire has jumped Wyee Road which is also closed.
The fire covers around 10 hectares of bush and is traveling in an easterly direction.

The Wyee nursery and service station came under direct threat and have been evacuated. Staff and residents at the Bethshan Nursing home are safe.
The RFS is warning that houses in Webber Road, Forest Road, Woodville Road, Karagi Street, Munmorah Street, Collungra Street, Badjewoi Street, Jilliby Street, Fire Station Lane, Wallarah Street and North-South Railway Line may come under threat.
