The celebrations continued overnight for Hunter basketballer, Suzy Batkovic, following the Townsville Fire’s win in the WNBL grand final.
The three-time league MVP was one of the stars of the decider, thanks to her 22 points and 11 rebounds.
Batkovic has achieved plenty in her career, including three Olympic medals, but the national title for Townsville was a first.
“Look I think it’s been a little bit, who’s going to do it the Cowboys or the Fire and that’s been theme the last couple of years because we’ve been in the grand final and it’s a phenomenal job that we finally got over the line and brought it home to Townsville.”
