VOLUNTEERS DO THEIR BIT TO CLEAN UP TAMWORTH

It may be the first day of autumn, but today Tamworth residents did a little spring cleaning around the city for Clean Up Australia day.
In its 25th year the day saw thousands of volunteers right across the country do their bit to clean up.
Members of the Tamworth Tidy towns committee started at 8.30 this morning, tending to the banks of the Peel River along Jewry Street.
Two hours of hard work saw several bags of rubbish, as well as two trolleys collected from the area.
