GLENCORE TO CUT 120 JOBS ACROSS NSW
The slowdown in the coal industry is again set to impact on Hunter jobs.
Glencore, which has eight mines in the Hunter, is to cut production by 15 million tonnes this year.
The reduction comes on top of Glencore’s recent three week shutdown and reflects a current oversupply of coal and low prices.
Australia’s largest coal producer, Glencore expects around 120 jobs will be lost across its New South Wales operations, with discussions underway with the mining union and workers.
