A Korean national is recovering in Newcastle’s John Hunter Hospital after a near drowning at Caves Beach.
Around 1.30pm the man was noticed floating face down in waist deep water after a surfboard mishap.
Lifeguards carried out CPR until paramedics arrived.
The 24-year-old man was flown to hospital by the Westpac rescue helicopter where he’s reported to be in a stable condition.
