The Hunter’s Suzi Batkovic has overcome an injury scare, to help the Townsville Fire beat the Bendigo Spirit and advance to the WNBL decider.
Batkovic went down clutching her ankle inside the opening minute of the game.
But the reigning MVP returned to the court in the second quarter.
“Really interested to see how Suzy moves and see whether the Bendigo Spirit look to exploit her at their offensive end.”
Batkovic provided plenty of inspiration with 12 points and 12 rebounds.
Meanwhile, fellow Hunter basketballer Katie Ebzery has led Sydney Uni to the preliminary final following a comeback win over Dandenong in the minor semi.
The Rangers were in control early in the third quarter, when they lost WNBA player Penny Taylor to a serious ankle injury.
Sydney responded with a late surge, with Ebzery leading the way for the Flames, finishing with 22 points and five rebounds.
