REPEAT DRINK DRIVER AVOIDS JAIL TIME

A drink driver has avoided jail, after police caught him with a high-range blood alcohol level twice in as many hours late last year.
44-year-old Paul Jones from Wallsend was today fined $1,100.
He also had his licence suspended for two years, was ordered to complete 100 hours of community service, and was placed on a two-year good behaviour bond.
Jones was arrested after crashing his car into a fence at Wallsend last November, following a drinking session at Stockton in which he consumed 10 schooners of beer.
He later tried to get back behind the wheel, and was arrested again.
