WORLD WAR ONE DIARIES RETURNED TO FAMILY
The family of a World War 1 soldier, John Jackson Dunbar was reunited with his stolen war diaries today.
The dairies from 1916 and 1917 were stolen several years ago along with World War 1 medals which have since also been returned.
The war diaries were recently, donated anonymously to the Speers Point Library which recognised their significance.
Ann Crump, a Community History Librarian was thrilled that the diaries survived.
“We were very lucky the diaries were handed in and weren’t just tossed in a bin”.
