The EPA is calling for representatives from the suburbs of Boolaroo, Argenton and Speers Point, to be part of the new Lake Macquarie Lead Community Reference Group.
The group will discuss concerns about soil contamination from the former Pasminco smelter.
State Independent MP Greg Piper has been named chairman, but another eight members are needed.
