More than 2500 cannabis plants, worth an estimated $5-million on the streets, have been seized by police on the North Coast.

Detectives from the Drug Squad’s Cannabis Team joined local police and PolAir in targeting bushland near Nimbin, Tuntable Falls, Lennox Head and Ballina.

The crop was destroyed this morning.

Police say three people will be handed court attendance notices for the offence of cultivating a prohibited plant.

  1. Just to raise a legitimate point here, shouldn’t those officers in the area be drug tested?, since that the law is clear about having 0.00% cannabis in the blood while operating a motor vehicle. This is a legitimate road safety concern. If a member of the public has even a small trace of cannabis in their system, well they would be charged.

  2. If they legalised Cannabis the taxes that they would generate the people lives that they would save and the quality of life that people would enjoy would be much greater than we have now. Not to mention the police could actually concentrate on real crime and real criminals.

  3. Such a dangerous plant,it must cause serious health problems or death. We can tell this by the extreme levels of personal protection equipment these people are wearing whilst destroying the plants.

I doubt this will even slightly dent the supply or demand for this medicine.

  4. I wouldn’t go that far cannabis is a medicinal plant I have a lot of pain because of a stroke I had in 2009 its good for pain I assure you what makes it bad is the dealers
