SUPPRESSION ORDER LIFTED ON MAN’S NAME FOLLOWING RACIAL ATTACK

A 34 year old man has failed in his bid to stop his name being made public.
Scott William Papworth has admitted to racist verbal and physical abuse towards two Muslim women in Newcastle, before turning on six men who had come to their aid.
An interim suppression order was today lifted by Magistrate Ian Cheetham in Newcastle Court and the man’s bail was refused.
Papworth applied to suppress his identity and that of his father, Martin Papworth.
Scott Papworth told the court he had been assaulted in jail by Muslim men.
Papworth previously pleaded guilty to seven charges, including stalking and intimidation, as well common assault.
He will reappear on March 3.
